The Yorkshire Dales National Park has a fantastic range of outdoor activities that you can do - from climbing and caving to riding a bike or horse. We know that if you have never done something like this it can seem a bit daunting, which is why we started the Go Dales! project in 2008.
Go Dales! aimed to provide 8 to 25 year olds with an early, enjoyable experience of the National Park, introducing them to a range of outdoor activities.
We wanted to increase their awareness of how visits to the National Park and getting active could enrich their lives, health and well-being, as well as improve their understanding in order to make the National Park more relevant to young people.
The three year scheme was funded by Sport England and the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority and ended in July 2011. However, the Go Dales! website created as part of the project has lots of information to explore so you can find out about activities to try, suggested days out within the National Park, and links to some activity clubs that may help you develop skill levels closer to home.
Find out more about the successes of the project as well as lessons learnt by downloading the Go Dales! final report.
