Activities
The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority offers a limited range of activities for groups that want to visit the National Park and we may be able to help you arrange your own visit. To discuss details and book activities, please email the Area Ranger (Lead Role Education).
The main activities that we can offer are as follows:

Interpretive Walks
Interpretive walks for Key Stage 2,3 and 4 groups around Aysgarth Falls, Grassington, Hawes, Malham and Reeth.
Theme: Discover a National Park Locality
Content: landscape, wildlife, heritage, community and economic issues
These are introductory countryside experiences which incorporate National Curriculum and National Park themes.
Format: Five hour session including a three to four mile walk. We will provide a leader for the session who can work with a maximum of 25 students. Groups must provide one adult supervisor for every ten students. No specialist equipment is needed but participants should wear appropriate outdoor clothing – see ‘Dress for the Dales’ on our Teacher's packs page.
Charges and further details are available on request.
Education activities at the Dales Countryside Museum
The Dales Countryside Museum is an important facility for everyone who wants to learn more about the Yorkshire Dales National Park. To find out more about current educational provision and facilities here, please visit the DCM Education Service page.
Organising your own visit
The National Park is home to a host of visitor attractions, activity providers, field work sites, etc. many of which are of interest for education groups. Take a look at our Teacher’s packs for background information and email the Area Ranger (Lead Role Education) to discuss your needs and find out whether we can help you to plan your visit.
Outreach
The Outreach Programme works to promote the opportunities the National Park has to offer, to community groups from a wider range of backgrounds than those which currently visit the Park. Efforts are focused on how best to do this: a number of programmes are being developed and a ‘promotional’ DVD and leaflet ‘Yours to Explore’ have been produced. For more information about the project and organising a visit email the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority.
Events
Each year the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority runs a varied and exciting programme of events for the general public. Participants can take a guided walk and learn more about the history and wildlife of the Dales, learn landscape photography or spend the day foraging for wild fungi. Find out more by visiting our Events page.
