Living here
The Yorkshire Dales National Park is not a wilderness but a living, working environment, home to 20,000 people. Over 97% of the land is privately owned and the National Park Authority must manage its duty towards conservation with that towards the social and economic wellbeing of its local communities.
We offer a broad range of help and guidance to residents, including wildlife and building conservation, farming, being a ‘green’ business, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and how to acess grants and funding. We are also the statutory planning authority for the area.
Carve out your own woodland
Get advice on creating your own woodland along with up to 100% funding for planting and maintenance. A woodland can offer great opportunities to diversify your business, the accompanying fencing can help stock management and it offers a great home to wildlife.
