Rylstone is a small, pretty hamlet between Skipton and Grassington, with an attractive village church and pond that is edged with snowdrops in early spring. It is also the starting point for some very fine walks which can be accessed by bus.
The old green way parallel to the main road provides a traffic-free route to Cracoe, where there is a popular inn and café, and from here you can walk to Grassington via Thorpe or Linton.
Strong walkers can take the bridleway over Barden Moor via Halton Heights to Bolton Abbey - in the footsteps of the legendary White Doe of Rylstone. Alternatively you can strike out over the moor edge above Rylstone Cross and Cracoe War Memorial before descending to Thorpe or Burnsall. You can follow lanes to Hetton and field paths towards Malham and Threshfield or you can walk alongside Hetton Beck towards Flasby, over Flasby Fell and Sharp Haw and down into Skipton. All are fine walks.
Bus times can be checked on the Dalesbus website.
