Ride the route

The greatest cycling race in the world came to the Yorkshire Dales in 2014 and, inspired by the route that Le Tour de France followed, we have created 'Le Tour de France du Dales'.

It is a stunning route, largely following the Tour de France route through the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Starting and finishing in Grassington, it follows quiet roads, takes in four classic climbs and provides views of some great Yorkshire Dales scenery.

To use the files, please do the following:

  • Right-click on the file that you wish to download - a menu of options will appear.
  • Select ‘Save link as…’ (in Firefox or Google Chrome) or ‘Save target as…’ (Internet Explorer) - you will be prompted to choose a location on your computer to save the GPX file.
  • Once you have the file on your machine, you should be able to export it to your GPS device using a USB connection. Please refer to your GPS device documentation for full instructions.

What's it like?

In May 2013, Mark Allum, the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority's Recreation and Tourism Manager, spent a happy bank holiday Monday riding the Tour de France du Dales route. He wrote a 'blog' style account of his ride so that you can get an idea of what the route is like before you set off.
